Our Team
Rajiv Narain
Founder & CEO
Rajiv Narain served as the principal designer for Rajiv Narain & Partners Architects, for three decades. Sustainable design formed an integral part of all levels of the practice.
In 2016 his concern for the ‘Aesthetics of Clean Energy’ within the built habitat, gave birth to Palm Energy Systems – an innovative clean energy start up, which has transformed into the transformative Palm-e System. All his time, energy and passion is now devoted to nurturing this venture and bringing the Palm-e System to market.
Rajiv graduated from the School of Architecture CEPT Ahmedabad India, and the Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) Zurich.
Francois Mahu
Founder, COO & Chief Design Officer
Francois Mahu is a Product Designer. He has been nominated for the 2014 EEAWARD in Belgium where he presented a new concept for a solar cooker. He was selected to represent Belgium for the initiative “Banc pour l’Europe” 2017 in Strasbourg, France.
Since 2016, Mahu and co-founder Narain have drawn on their collective experience and passion for sustainable design to found Palm Energy Systems – an innovative clean energy startup creating a range of ‘Designed Products’ for the urban habitat.
Francois holds a Masters in Industrial Product Design from the “Ecole Superieure des Arts Saint-Luc” in Liège, Belgium.
Jay Kesan
Co-founder & Intellectual Property / Legal Advisor
Jay P. Kesan is a registered patent attorney for 20+ years and has worked extensively with start-ups encompassing a wide range of technologies. He is particularly interested in business strategy and its intersection with intellectual property.
He is an inventor himself and holds over 20+ U.S. patents. He has a Ph.D. in Electrical & Computer Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin and a J.D., summa cum laude from Georgetown University.
Samir Varma
Co-founder & Chairman
Samir Varma is an inventor, investor, and entrepreneur. He has inventions and patents in fields as diverse as finance, software, advertising, medicine, transportation, and software.
He is Chairman and Chief Scientist at Applango, Founder and Chief Investment Officer at VS Asset Management.
He holds a PhD in Theoretical Physics from the University of Texas at Austin, and a BS in Electrical Engineering from Columbia University.
Chris Outwater
Strategic Advisor, Energy & EVs
Chris Outwater is a technology entrepreneur who has successfully developed and deployed advanced technology products and intellectual property over the past 30 years.
He has worked as a consultant for Disney Imagineering and for leading automotive and technology companies. He is the inventor or co-inventor on 18 patents.
He worked to develop the original concept for the HYDRA. His latest invention is a new “myTempie” ™ product for Remote Health Reporting and Access Control.
Combined professional experience of over 125 years in the fields of architecture, design, project management, finance, startups, entrepreneurship, patent law, renewable energy and EVs.
